Dark colour urine

Case 5 Answer



History:
This ECG was recorded from a 23 year-old man presented with 6 hours history of painless dark colour urine. Two weeks prior to his presentation he had a sore throat which settled spontaneously. He denies joint symptoms and has no previous history of urinary tract/kidney infection.

ECG shows:

  • Sinus rhythm, 65/min, normal cardiac axis
  • Features of hyperkalaemia:
        -tall tented T waves
  • This man has acute renal failure secondary to acute glomerulonephritis. His serum potassium was 7.9
