Premature Ventricular Contractions

History:
This ECG was recorded from a 74 year-old man with a history of IHD.

ECG shows:

  • Sinus rhythm with ventricular bigeminy
         -Each sinus beat is followed by a ventricular premature beat
  • Atrial rate, 78/min (every 2nd p wave (up arrow) buried in the T wave of a VPC)
  • Mean ventricular rate ~78/min
  • Normal axis, PR & QRS duration, QT for rate
  • Q wave in lead III, not in II and aVF
