Case 18 answer

AF or AF?

History:
This ECG was recorded from a 60 year-old man who presented with sudden onset of palpitation. He has a history of IHD.

ECG shows:

  • Atrial fibrillation:
       -irregular ventricular response, rate ~100/min
       -no obvious saw-tooth pattern in inferior leads
       -fibrillation waves in rhythm strip V1 which resembles flutter waves
  • Normal axis, QRS duration, QT for rate
